As part of the North East England Growth 2 Logistics Technology Project Boyd & Noble Productivity Solutions were brought in to undertake a Technology Audit to identify improvement opportunities and solutions within Ford Components manufacturing operation.

As a result of this work the following recommendations were made:-

• Incorporate a web based on-line order & enquiry capability within the website to reduce the volume of inbound calls that are currently received thus freeing up staff to do other tasks 

•  Introduction of computer based works orders through a manufacturing execution system enabling real time visibility of job progress.

• Adoption of a barcode scanning stock control software module to enable real time reporting and management of stock levels
